Insanity
Yeah, I haven't so much blogged in a very long time. Unfortunately, this trend will likely continue. Suffice to say, my time is not my own, and when it is, I don't know what to do with it. Hopefully I'll maintain sanity through December, at which point, perhaps I'll get to posting again. Silly life and busy-ness.

Health Care Reform
So, before I ever saw any Health Care Reform Bill from Obama, I said I didn't like the idea of Socializing Medicine. I also told people that Obama would spend more than he helped. I also mentioned the fact that he was after guns and ammo, and that he was not pro-hunting.
So far, I've been right. He has spent more, albeit in his stimulus packages, than he has helped our country get out of the downward spiral. Not that Bush helped either, but Obama has upped the ante.
As to the guns and ammo, all you need to do is look at the scarcity of available ammunition and firearms to realize that all Americans that enjoy the shooting and hunting sports are scared out of their minds that Obama will impact their ability to enjoy their Second Amendment Rights, and are buying up both firearms and ammunition in near record amounts. This should be a boon both for the US gov't and the Firearms companies. However, the gov't is so over-spent that it apparently doesn't matter if there's windfall profits from the 2nd Amendment groups. Its gotten to the point where Reloading has seen a resurgence, and that was something I thought I'd never see.
Now for the health care. This article came out today, and I read it and was amused. I think the last two bother me the most. Number 4 because it is something that was promised, and now will not be carried out in the manner previously promised. Number 5 is just ludicrous. They already proved that it did not work once, and now they want to make it Federal Law, and thereby create an HMO that can only be overturned by a literal Act of Congress.
We shall see.

Just When You Thought It Was Safe
I forgot how much fun this song was until I heard it on "Prairie Home Companion", at which point I laughed like an idiot. Classic...
Apparently I've been missing out on the Wurzels. I need to learn more about this band...
Wow, that's all incredibly hilarious.

The Boxer
It took me awhile, but I finally watched "The Boxer" starring D.D. Lewis and Emily Watson. Mmm, Irish reality. It goes well with the reading for class I've got going lately. With any luck, I might even be able to use it. I would recommend it to most others who like Irish history.
The Irish
As I stumble towards mediocrity in writing a thesis, I am reading more and more about the Irish, their history, their struggles, and their tragedy. Fascinating stuff. It allows one to realize that the concept of genetic memory has partial possibility, but at the same time has flaws. All in all, however, so many of the ideas that the Irish had as far as community or goverment make so much more sense than what the English had in place. Granted, it would be difficult to maintain their concepts of government in today's world, but that is also because so much of American socio-political thought has English roots. However, still fascinating stuff to learn. makes me want to have my own plot of land somewhere with a lot of trees keeping everyone else out as soon as possible.

Stargate
Recent Stargate addict here. Anyone else find it amazing how they can open a door and shut it every single episode? Its like, "Look, we can do this," at the beginning of the episode, and then by the end, that door closes, sometimes moving them back in their attempts to get where they want to be. Hilarious.

Stargate SG-1
Genius I tell you. Fantastic idea to study both sci-fi and mythological elements all at once by turning the gods of myth and legend into aliens and have them populate throughout the universe, etc. Fantastic. You should try it out, if you like Sci-Fi and know anything about mythology, that is.
